Happy Friday, folks. The Capitals hosted the New Jersey Devils and I almost fell asleep.
Andre Burakovsky got the Capitals on the board first.
There was definitely a second period. I’m told a second period definitely happened.
The third period began and Nicklas Backstrom had a gorgeous layup from John Carlson. Putting the whipped cream on top of the ice cream sundae, Lars Eller with the ENG.
Caps win 3-0.

Let’s start with something positive about the New Jersey Devils? We are good people, we can start with something nice. This rules.

Andre Burakovsky scored in his third straight game this evening. This is Burakovsky’s 11th goal of the season — the same amount he had last year.
Who else is currently on a point streak? Travis Boyd! With his assist on the Andre Burakovsky’s goal, he has extended his point streak to three games.
Getting over the boards can be hard! Carl Hagelin is proof of this issue after he tried to hop over aaaand got a tad…um…stuck?

careful babes 😳

Nicklas Backstrom registered his seventh power play goal of the season which is tying his total from last year.
John Carlson is VERY close to recording back-to-back 50 assist seasons to become the third defenseman in franchise history to reach that mark.
Tonight was Brooks Orpik‘s 40th game of the season. He has now reached his second $250K bonus. It begs the question: Will Christian Djoos get back in the lineup now that Brooks has been made whole?
This was rude.

#NJDevils Connor Carrick just stole point No. 1,200 from old teammate Alex Ovechkin. Swiped the puck off the goal line after it leaked through Mackenzie Blackwood. Here’s guessing he’ll still get it, some day.

The New Jersey Devils have now lost four consecutive games and were essentially fielding a minor league team against the Capitals. The Capitals struggled to put them away. The Devils are icing like at least 5 guys who Julia is not convinced are real people.
Braden Holtby registered his third shutout of this season! This ties Olie Kolzig (35) for the most shutouts in franchise history.
All blue errythang!
